In early 2020, DSS Marine and FitzWright Survival donated a Dacon Fishermen’s Rescue Frame and Dacon Rescue Dummy to the FSANS. This equipment was used in our wharf side safety drills throughout 2020.

This rescue device was created by a fisherman in Shelburne, NS. It was built specifically to work for the F/V Blake and Harper which is equipped with a boom and winch that will lift the rescue device onto the deck of the vessel.

During a Man Overboard Drill in October 2020, our team tested this rescue device with the crew of the vessel. Our diver was able to get onto the rescue device easily, and when our diver acted unconscious the vessels crew was able to get our diver onto the rescue frame by using a gaff and a tag-line to move the frame around.
